Just a success report for anybody looking for screenplay / script
writing software. I downloaded the trial version of Sophocles 2003
(fully functional except for watermark on printouts)
http://www.sophocles.net/
and Sophocles 2007 beta (free unlock key for beta version)
http://www.sophocles.net/beta/
from sophocles.net and installed both using wine. They work great,
except the 2007 version drop down menus do not appear until you bring
the mouse cursor down, odd. Otherwise they work great. I have also
been using Celtx, but the latest verion of celtx has been quite buggy
regarding page count which is really annoying given how critical that
is when doing screenplay writing. And no I do not work for
sophocles-- just reporting a Windows product that works pretty good
with Wine. Not too many other options besides Celtx for screenplay
writing for Linux.

Have you tried using Codeweavers' CrossOver for better compatability.
It's much more polished and stable than wine. (Yes, you have to pay for
it, but you get what you pay for.) If it works well, I'm sure
Codeweavers would like to know about it. Sophocles is as yet untested.
Celtx isn't even listed.

I like the idea of supporting Wine, being that it is open source and
free. But I do need the stability and if Codeweavers can do it all the
better. Or I might go back and explore Win4Lin that I used to use for
Windows98-- very cool to start up MS-Windows in a resizeable Linux
window!

Celtx has versions native to Linux (and Windows, and Mac OS). But I am
really liking Sophocles, I would like to know it will run smooth on
Linux, so whatever it takes. Thanks for reminding me of Codeweavers, I
had forgotten about that option!

For the record, Codeweavers plows all of its improvements that
are fit to print back into vanilla Wine. They're very dedicated to
improving
free/open source software.
